Stephen Leggitt marks his 41st year of competitive coaching and his third season as technical director with St. Albert Sturgeon Volleyball Association. He is a ChPC (Chartered Professional Coach) accredited by the Coaching Association of Canada and a Certified Performance Coach with Volleyball Canada. Additionally, he holds a level 3 certification as a coach evaluator. Stephen has coached various levels of volleyball in both Canada and the United States, from club teams to university squads. Most recently, he led the University of Alberta’s Augustana campus team in the ACAC (Alberta College Athletic Conference). During his six years at Augustana, Stephen guided the Vikings Men’s volleyball team to a gold medal in 2014/2015, a bronze medal in 2015/2016, and three fourth-place finishes.

Stephen has also served as Associate Head Coach and Head Coach at Montana State University Northern, Associate Head Coach for the University of Saskatchewan Men’s Volleyball, Associate Head Coach for York University Lions Men’s Volleyball in Toronto, and Assistant Coach for the University of Calgary Men’s Volleyball. In 1991, he started a successful ten-year stint with the Ganaraska Wolves Volleyball team in Ontario, winning numerous championships and culminating in a national silver medal in 2000/2001. Stephen initiated club volleyball during his time in Montana and, upon returning to Camrose, Alberta, in 2009, he and renowned volleyball coach Greg Ryan took over the operations of the Battle River Volleyball Club. Stephen has coached Team Alberta multiple times, most recently in 2017, and has been a guest coach for both the Junior National Men’s and Women’s teams.

This year marks Stephen’s 22nd with Volleyblast, having spent the last ten years as its owner and operator.
