VolleyBlast Performance Coach
Meet Coach Anson Boyes
My passion for volleyball began in elementary school and continued through junior high when I joined the Jr. Tomahawks team at Grande Prairie Composite High School. In 1992, I progressed to the Senior Tomahawks under the guidance of Coach David Johnson, a 2012 Alberta Volleyball Hall of Fame Award recipient.
Our team was recognized by Sports Illustrated magazine as the top high school program in North America, notably defeating a group of USA Jr. National players at the Sandcastle International Tournament for two consecutive years. We went on to win 13 consecutive tournaments over a two-year period, culminating each year with a 4A Provincial Gold medal.
Following my high school success, I joined the Grande Prairie Midget Wolves volleyball club, affiliated with GPRC, to further develop my skills. It was during these formative years that I learned the essence of being a champion both on and off the court.
Now, I am dedicated to passing on these skills and experiences. I have been an assistant coach for SAS 12U-13U boys and currently assisting with Vibe Volleyball 15U girls, while working towards my NCCP Development Coach certification. I am excited to continue supporting and nurturing the next generation of volleyball talent.
